Virtual Connections to Real Adventures

Messaging a stranger on an Instagram story was the start of an unforgettable adventure for me. I couldn't resist the opportunity to travel to France and climb for a week with his friends, even though I had only been climbing for six months and had never spoken to any of them before. It was a spontaneous decision, but I value connections and making new friends, especially within the outdoor community.

Despite what others might have said, I packed my bag and headed to Bristol to meet up with the group and start the journey. From the trip, I learned so much about climbing, community, and grew in confidence. It was the best decision I ever made, as it allowed me to make new friends and experience something truly life-changing.

It's safe to say that I've never looked back. Since that day, I've now found new groups of friends to climb with across Dorset, North Wales, and the Midlands. All of this came through networking and being brave enough to meet up with new people.

Working at a surf camp as a social media and marketing strategist, and photographer was an exhilarating experience. My job involved capturing clients' best moments while surfing and enjoying their days out. I had the opportunity to create presentations at the end of each week, showcasing the surfing fails, successes, and inside jokes we shared.

This experience provided me with an opportunity to hone my social media and marketing skills, which translated seamlessly to my role at Hostel One. As a social media assistant, I managed the hostel's TikTok account, planned social content, and delegated tasks to volunteers to ensure we met our social media goals.

Overall, the experience was not only fun but also helped me develop valuable skills on my way to becoming a great marketer and photographer.
